[7 Critical Mindset Shifts] The First Hurdle to Success is Between Your Ears

Does your self-talk routinely hold you back from doing something new, dismantle your idea, or whisper that you’re just not good enough?

Did I hear a Yes?! Phew, you’re like the rest of us, no matter how mature, evolved, or accomplished you may be.

No woman entrepreneur can have a successful business filled with negative, fearful kinds of thoughts. What you tell yourself about yourself, about others, about any situation…about everything is critical.

As Henry Ford famously said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

One of the biggest mental and emotional challenges of the recent crisis has been fear. A four-letter word that has the capacity to do tremendous damage if left unchecked.

Because fear can paralyze you. You stop taking risks. You are constantly overwhelmed by “What if?” You start to believe that what you’ve achieved in the past doesn’t matter.

The truth is you are far more capable than you realize. Now it’s time to truly own it.

Sure, you’re gonna need help. Success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. So, reach out and reach up. But you must make the first move.

Here’s how to start:

  1. Have a keen radar for the whispers (or screaming) of criticism and fears between your ears.

  2. When it happens immediately respond. Out loud. With a go-to phrase that puts your critical voice in its place and puts you back in charge. Like:

You’re wrong. I am able.

Just. Shut. Up.

Who put you in charge? Not me!

100%...WRONG!

And your point would be? (sarcasm encouraged)

You will feel awkward to do this at first, then it will become comical. But you will be amazed how this simple act will powerfully start to zap critical, fear-filled thoughts before they take hold.

Here’s to becoming a strong, better YOU!
